Focus Requirements (select one):
Ecology Focus:
The Ecology Focus is designed for anyone, regardless of background or major.
Genetics Focus:
While anyone is welcome to complete the Genetics Focus, it is designed specifically for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in medical fields. Courses in this focus have additional prerequisites that students pursuing degrees that complement medical studies, like the B.S. in Psychology (Chemistry track) or the B.S. in Biochemistry, will have completed as part of their program. Specifically, those courses are
CHEM 115,125,116,126,215, and 225.
Human Biology Focus:
While anyone is welcome to complete the Human Biology Focus, it is designed specifically for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in medical fields. Students pursuing degrees that complement medical studies, like the B.S. in Psychology (Chemistry track) or the B.S. in Biochemistry, will have completed, as part of their program, prerequisites required for this focus. Specifically, those courses are
CHEM 115 and 125.

- Students of all majors within the Biology Department with the exception of Exercise Science are excluded from completing the Biology Minor (i.e., majors in Biology, Biology Adolescence Education, Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Genetics)
- A maximum of 6 credit hours may also be applied to another program.
- Students electing BIOL 245 must complete 4 credit hours of prerequisite chemistry courses, specifically CHEM 115, 125.
- Students electing BIOL 333 must complete 16 credit hours of prerequisite chemistry courses, specifically CHEM 115,116,125,126,215,225.
- 200 level Biology courses designated as upper-level may not be counted towards the 6 credits of Biology courses at the 300/400 level.
