ARTS 480 Concept Art/Visual Development
ARTS 480 is an advanced illustration course in which students learn how to create grounded, story-driven worlds through the interplay of characters, objects, and environments. Projects in this class require students to practice research skills as they develop ideas about the imaginary world they illustrate. Students use and enhance their knowledge of color theory and design as they attempt to capture the mood or theme of a script. A major project undertaken for this course involves re-imaging an existing story and creating a comprehensive visual design package that communicates the essential components of a story-driven world, including the characters, environment, props, vehicle designs, and final concept images. Students set designated goals (with instruction consultation) and work to meet those goals.
