SPMG 325 Sport Through Film and TV

This course will examine and explore the various components of sport through film, media and television. Students will assess the representation of sport as well as analyzing the role athletes play within film, media and television today, and the lessons that can be learned from these areas such as ethics, race, equality, etc. Additionally, students will analyze and evaluate specific sport themes within these feature films and television aspects and how these have impacted the sport industry in the past, present and heading into the future. Students will also explore the various concepts of sport through a social media lens and the interpretation of messages on these platforms, while studying the interactions between the athlete and fan within the sport industry today.
