GEO 412 Earth Materials II

The course prepares students to use concepts developed in Earth Materials I (GEO 312) to evaluate interpretations of geological processes drawn from rocks and minerals. Topics include mineralogical content on crystallography, the chemistry of crystal structures for individual minerals, a detailed and operational introduction to observation using analytical techniques, phase diagrams, and in-depth material on associated rocks & minerals within the unifying theory of plate tectonics.
