GEO 138 Gems and Minerals

This course aims to introduce key contents in the field of gemology, including but not limited to the nature, geology, crystallography, chemistry and physical properties of key gems and minerals, along with its origin and production issue. These subjects will cover fundamental basics of physics, chemistry and geology that are used by gemmologist, along with in-depth content on the mineralogical aspects of gems and minerals. The goals of the course are to familiarize you with gemological principles and their applications, and strengthen your critical thinking and analytical skills.
