History Minor
Requirements for the Minor in History
Eighteen (18) credit hours of course work in history, including nine (9) credit hours at the 300-level or above. The department suggests the following concentrations:
Global Studies:
HIST 243 | Pre-Modern Global History | 3 |
HIST 386 | Global Studies | 3 |
| and | |
| Four (4) additional courses in global or non-Western history | 12 |
American Society and Culture:
HIST 222 | Survey of Early U.S. History | 3 |
HIST 223 | Survey of Modern U.S. History | 3 |
| and | |
| Four (4) additional courses in American history | 12 |
Middle East/Asian Studies:
Five (5) of the following courses:
European Studies:
HIST 232 | Survey of Pre-Modern European History | 3 |
HIST 233 | Survey of Modern European History | 3 |
| and | |
| Four (4) additional courses in European history | 12 |
Total Credit Hours: 18
Other concentrations are also possible. The program must be prepared in consultation with a department faculty member and receive department approval. No more than 9 credit hours of history credit earned prior to the declaration of the minor may be credited toward the program.
